The 2022 Belrose Pinot Noir is a soulful, small-batch expression from a historic 3.2-hectare site in Dumbalk, South Gippsland. Originally planted in 1991 by the legendary Philip Jones of Bass Phillip, this vineyard is now organically managed by Lana Stevanovich on heavy mudstone soils.
The 2022 release is a masterclass in low-intervention winemaking; approachable yet complex. It offers a bright, translucent ruby colour with a nose defined by wild strawberry, red currant, and a signature "mossy" forest-floor earthiness. On the palate, the wine is light-to-medium bodied with silky, integrated tannins and a refreshing acidity that speaks to its cool, windswept maritime location.
This is a refined, terroir-driven Pinot Noir that prizes purity and elegance over power.
